Q. Do I need to book in advance?

A. For entrance into the museum and grufflo trail and most of our events you do not need to pre-book, simply head to the gift shop to purchase your tickets. Some events, for example our Father Christmas visits, do require pre-booking but will always be clearly stated that you need to do so.

Q. Do we have to leave by a specific time?

A. The museum, gift shop and The Heritage Coffee Shop shut at 17:00 and our carpark gates will be locked at 17:30.

Q. How long does it take to walk around the site?

A. The choice is yours, but we recommend allowing 1.5-2 hours to get the best experience at The Dean Heritage Centre.

Q. Are you accessible for children’s pushchairs, mobility aids and wheelchairs?

A. We have a number of disabled car parking spaces available in our car park. The entrance area and shop, Galleries 1,2, 3 and 5, the Victorian School room, the Heritage Coffee Shop and the footpath through the wooded area including the Gruffalo trail are accessible. There is a disabled toilet in the museum and in the Coffee Shop. A gradually sloping wide ramp connects the ground floor to the second floor.

Gallery 4 is we regret, not accessible to wheelchair users.

Paths around the main site are stony and the woodland paths may become muddy after rain.

Q. Can I bring my dog?

A. Dogs are welcome in The Heriatge Coffe Shop and our Gift shop. Unfortunatley due to insurance purposes we cannot allow dogs on to The Gruffalo Trail, in The Museum or anywhere else on our site. Assistance dogs are permitted.

Q. Can we bring our own picnic?

A. Yes, and there are outside picnic benches and several waste bins for your rubbish. We also have The Heritage Coffee Shop on site serving a selection of food and drinks.

Q. Do you offer school visits?

A. Yes, click here for more information.
