To celebrate International Day of the Forest on Tuesday 21st March, join local historian Alex to Discover Dene:

Join Alex for a walk in the woods to learn about the history, plants and wildlife of this stunning land betwixt two rivers.

09:30: meet for breakfast: Enjoy a great cup of coffee or pot of tea with a delicious bacon or sausage bap (vegetarian/vegan options available) Please notify us of any dietary requirements when booking.

10:00: head out into the woods to discover the stunning ancient woodlands just beyond our boundary. It hides the industrial past of the Forest of Dean and is home to a multitude of woodland creatures. Be amazed by immense veteran trees, discover the multitude of woodland plants and trees that have colonised ancient quarries. Follow forest tracks that shy woodland creatures use and immerse yourself in the woodland paradise to refresh the soul.

13:00: return to the Dean Heritage Coffee Shop for a tasty lunch of home-made soup and a roll or scone and tea/coffee with a slice of cake.

Price: £25.00 per person

Booking: Either book in person at reception or call the Centre on 01594 822170 during opening hours. Payment will be required at time of booking; card payments can be taken over the phone. Maximum of 16 people

Please note: This walk may not be suitable for young children. Appropriate outdoor clothing for weather conditions and stout walking shoes will be required. A certain level of fitness will be necessary to negotiate woodland paths.
