Dean Heritage Centre Art Gallery DIGITISATION PROJECT
We are currently undertaking a large digitisation project in an attempt to make our collections more accessible to visitors and researchers. Over the next two years we will be transferring information and images for each artefact in our collection onto a new database that will be accessible to the public onsite and online.

THE DENNIS POTTER ARCHIVE
In 2011 the DHC, in partnership with 'Voices in the Forest' and the University of Gloucestershire secured a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to purchase , preserve and display the Dennis Potter archive. The archive comprises material spanning several decades of Potter's career and includes handwritten copies of scripts and documentation relating to his well-known works as well as unpublished works and initial drafts. Over the next 12 months we will be cataloguing and digitising this archive to enable access for research and provide content for a new exhibition about Dennis Potter including an audio tour at the Centre.

To further enhance the archive and exhibition the DHC would like to include artefacts, memorabilia and memories from the local area. If you would like to donate items or memories to the archive please contact the centre on 01594 822170 or email nicola@deanheritagecentre.com

NEW DISPLAYS
In 2012 we will be enhancing the displays relating to mining in Gallery 3 with new interpretation panels illustrating the history of the coal and iron industry in the Forest of Dean.

There are also plans to create a new display focussing on Dean Forest Riots of 1831 and Warren James.
